Debian Squeeze Fixes: Make NVIDIA Binary Driver Compile

If you have installed Debian Squeeze and tried to get your NVIDIA graphics card working the Debian way, you probably ended up with nothing but a build error from module assistant. The problem lies within the old version of nvidia-kernel-source which resides in the Squeeze repository. The solution is a bundle of two very helpful forum posts which are enough to run NVIDIA in Debian Squeeze:
  1. First you need to do the steps listed in this post: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=44838#p254729
  2. Then you need to place this in your xorg.conf: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=671196#p671196
And that is basically it. You should have your video card working with the binary driver after X.Org restart.
